Mental Health Awareness Week // Nature

Mental health awareness week & why nature is so important

Nature is so central to our psychological and emotional health – for most of human history, we lived as part of nature. It is only in the last five generations that so many of us have lived and worked in a context that is largely separated from nature and, with technology, many of us are drifting further and further away.

The theme for Mental Health Awareness Week 2021 is nature and nature really is our great untapped resource for a mentally healthy future. Find out more and explore this theme:  mentalhealth.org.uk

NATURE A POEM BY KEELEY TAVENER

Nature can teach us a great deal about life
If only we can detach from ‘technology’
Nature, in essence, is all about potentiality
From a seed, comes a tree
From a bulb evolves a flower
A daffodil blooms and then it declines
What can a blooming flower teach us about life?
Death is certain, that is guaranteed
But will you blossom? Will you bloom?
Will you say yes and nurture your deepest dreams?
Could that be the royal road to overcoming your painful insecurities?

Or will you stagnate and get stuck in the mud
Going round in vicious circles, where life is predicable, yet safe
However, a life without risk is a precarious place to be
Like nature, a human organism is built for incredible diversity
When you play it safe, overtime, your world becomes small
You end up living in your head, overthinking situations and taking no action at all
Life becomes humdrum and lacklustre
Fear takes the reigns, sadness and depression become an ever aching dull pain
You are nature, it is your essence
You’re hard wired to bloom, to flourish and blossom
Your potential is limitless, infinite and abundant
Stagnation and stuckness is not your essence
Just look at nature, you come from the same creator

Nature finds a way, it changes, morphs and adapts
Take lessons from mother nature, she holds all the clues and here are just few:
Change like the seasons
Be like water
Say yes to your deepest desires
Try new pastures
Free yourself from the limits of your tiny mind.
