Is a longer-term exploration of your personal challenges and difficulties, psychotherapy provides a powerful tool for positive long term change. You can learn about the root cause of your issues and create strong, dependable foundations, upon which to heal and move on.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma.
EMDR is a set of standardised protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages to relieve many types of psychological stress.
Sometimes, the difficulties that we face in life seem to keep us stuck. Whatever we try, nothing seems to make a real difference. Our family or friends may be well-meaning, but their advice may not help and may even occasionally leave us feeling worse!
At times like this, many people are appreciative of the opportunity to talk to an experienced, trained counsellor.
Counselling services provide an objective, confidential space where you can discover what it is that is causing you to feel stuck. We will then assist you in identifying the strategies and solutions that will empower you to turn your life around and regain happiness and control.
Under the direction of psychotherapist Keeley Taverner, group work can give support, offer alternatives and comfort participants, so that their difficulties can be resolved and other, more useful behaviours learned.
A group can also help someone to develop new ways of relating to people. Groups are usually 4-8 people with one or more trained group therapists. During the group meeting, members decide what they want to talk about and are encouraged to give feedback to each other.
Group therapy is based on a psycho-social education model and incorporates a varied range of therapeutic approaches, with all learning being experiential in nature.
Life coaching can help you to build confidence, overcome blocks to success, achieve goals and improve your quality of life. Given that some people find problems in motivation and achievement can reoccur after a course of life coaching alone. I combine coaching with additional therapies, to help you to achieve changes that you can maintain for life.
Our integrated coaching with counselling and psychotherapy approach can help you to understand fully the obstacles that hold you back and how to make changes that will last.
Career coaching works on the basis of the following three principles:

Your therapist will listen to your concerns and explore what a good therapy outcome would be for you. We will give you an understanding of how we can work with you, to help you to address the issues that concern you. You will get a sense of our working style and have the opportunity to ask any questions. If we think our service is not appropriate for you, we will be pleased to recommend alternative sources of help.
How many sessions will I need?
Every individual is unique, and their circumstances often very different. We can, therefore, work with you on a session-by-session basis and as you progress, you can decide when you have had the number of sessions that works best for you.
We also offer bulk sessions of five or 10, for the benefit of those who like to know how many sessions they might need, or who simply wish to work within a specific timeframe and book a set of sessions. Your therapist can give you an idea of what can be achieved within different timeframes and work within those with you.
It is, however, important to understand a few matters first, as several factors can influence the length of therapy that will suit you best. These include:
- The length of time that you have been having difficulties
- The degree of change that you wish to achieve
- Your level of self-confidence
- How well the type of therapy used matches your personal learning style
Ultimately, we believe that you will know when you no longer require therapy because you will have achieved the changes you want. If you are unsure about how long you may need, as the work progresses, you will get a sense of what works best for you.
All contracts are flexible and can be changed at any time.
How do I pay for my sessions?
Payment for the initial session is made via bank transfer.
If you decide that you would like further sessions, you can pay for these either in cash or online by direct bank payment. Your therapist can provide you with bank payment details if this is your preferred payment method for further sessions.
We have three low-cost placements; please enquire for availability.
